Tonight I was humbled by the CSO’s performance of Shostakovich’s Symphony Nr. 11, <the year 1905> which, to use some words, was amazing, moving, and badass. If you haven’t checked out this piece, you really ought to. Big D‘s program for this piece made me think first about how craptastic life was like during the Russian Revolution, I mean honestly, coups generally don’t evolve from peaceful, happy living conditions. In any event, it was a fantastic concert, and I hope there are some CSO Shostakovich recordings in the future.
